Como officially sign Brazil international ahead of Liverpool tie

Liverpool will conclude their pre-season preparations with back-to-back Anfield friendlies against Monaco and Como in August.

The Reds will host Ligue 1 side Monaco on Sunday at 2:30pm (BST) before welcoming Italian outfit Como to Anfield on Sunday, August 16, with kick-off times scheduled for 12pm and 6pm (BST).

Liverpool have never faced Como at any level. The Serie A club are currently managed by former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

They finished fourth in the league last season to secure Champions League qualification for the first time in their history.

Ahead of the fixture, Como have announced the loan signing of Brazilian international wing-back Yan Couto from Borussia Dortmund for the 2026/27 season.

The 24-year-old made 62 appearances for Dortmund over the last two campaigns after initially joining on loan from Manchester City in 2024 before making the move permanent a year later.

However, Yan Couto struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, with Julian Ryerson often preferred at right-back. He made 19 Bundesliga appearances last season and has not completed a full 90 minutes since February.

The Brazil international, who has four senior caps for the Selecao, previously spent time at Girona but never made a competitive appearance for Manchester City.

On his arrival, Yan said: “I’m very happy to be here, I really like the team’s style of play and its philosophy, and I hope I can help the team improve even more. I believe this is an important step in my career, and I can’t wait to get started”.

Como head coach Cesc Fabregas added: “Yan is a brave and technically strong player who gives us different options on the right side.

“He likes to play forward, has great energy and fits well with the way we want to play. He is still young, but already has important experience, and we believe he can continue to grow with us.”
