Justin Fields on his 5th offensive coordinator in 5 NFL seasons

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Justin Fields, drafted 11th overall by the Chicago Bears in 2021, is now on his fourth NFL team and working with his fifth offensive coordinator.

Fields acknowledged the rapid turnover himself.

“Two in Chicago, three, four. This is going to be my 5th one right here,” Fields said.

What stands out about Reid’s offense

------------------------------------

Fields said the variety within Andy Reid’s system has been a notable difference from previous stops.

“The things that we can do within a concept, the different options a QB has — it really kind of opens up a little bit. And I’ve kind of seen different concepts that I’ve never seen before,” Fields said.

Learning curve on display at camp

---------------------------------

At times during training camp, Fields has appeared slow to release the football, contributing to some negative plays. He is learning his fifth offense in five years.

Fields said the experience of working alongside Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been valuable.

“It’s been awesome to learn from — of course — Coach Reid and Pat and stuff. I’ve been blessed with a lot of knowledge since I’ve been here and I hope to continue to grow,” Fields said.

With Mahomes returning as the starter, Fields will not be the focal point of the Kansas City offense, though the former first-round pick figures to draw attention from around the league as he looks to revive his NFL career.
