Arsenal are looking to bounce back from a disappointing pursuit of Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior by closing in on a £60m signing.
The Gunners are said to be looking at signing Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, as they push to strengthen their defence following an injury to William Saliba.
The Mail claims both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing the England international, with his Aston Villa team-mates concerned that Konsa will leave the club.
Nevertheless, the Gunners will have to increase their bid, having reportedly offered half of Villa's £60m asking price earlier this summer.

The report claims Konsa is one of the main transfer targets for Mikel Arteta's side this summer, behind Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Junior.
Villa have already lost a number of key players this summer, with Morgan Rogers leaving for Chelsea and Youri Tielemans signing for Manchester United.
Defender Lucas Digne is expected to sign for PSG, while there's concern around Konsa's future from inside the Villa Park dressing room.
Guimaraes is on the verge of moving to the Emirates Stadium for a reported £75m deal from Newcastle United.
However, the Gunners were dealt a blow earlier this week, with Vinicius Junior set to sign a new contract with Real Madrid.

Arsenal had been prepared to offer the Brazilian winger a blockbuster contract in an attempt to lure him to the Premier League champions this summer, with the 26-year-old at an impasse with Los Blancos over a new deal.
But, Jose Mourinho's side improved their contract offer and Vini Jr has signed a new deal at the Bernabeu.
The Gunners will now move on from that disappointment and will reportedly try to sign Konsa ahead of the Premier League title defence this season.
Arteta also wants to go one better and win the Champions League, having been beaten by PSG on penalties in the final back in May.
