Barcelona send €45 million opening bid for Rodri as talks with Man City underway

Barcelona’s move for Manchester City midfielder and Spain World Cup winning captain Rodri has reached a crucial stage as club to club talks are officially underway.

Fabrizio Romano’s latest update says Barça have made an opening bid of €45 million, with City indicating they want more in the initial talks.

Other reliable sources in Spain say Barça believe a deal will be reached for €50 million plus add-ons, with the total package likely around 60-65 million.

The two clubs maintain excellent relations given the fact City CEO Ferran Soriano comes from Barcelona, and City will not put up too much of a fight since they know Rodri really wants the move.

Barça are “very confident” they will get a deal done and Rodri’s agent has already informed Real Madrid of his client’s desire to join the Catalans according to Romano, so _Los Blancos_ have dropped out of the race.

The _Blaugrana_ want to close a deal this weekend so talks are likely to advance fast, with a resolution possibly coming as early as Friday.
