**Liverpool still have a lot of work to do in the transfer market to have a squad capable of competing on all fronts.**
The Reds remain locked in talks to sign Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, so they are working towards reinforcing their attack.
Their defence, however, is in desperate need of new signings due to injuries.
[Djed Spence has been linked with a move to Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/news/liverpool-fans-given-huge-update-in-djed-spence-transfer-saga/) in recent weeks after asking to leave Tottenham.
Contrasting reports have emerged on the England international, which has left both fan bases rather confused.
And now, Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s heard about the transfer.
[Spence is valued at around £35m](https://readliverpoolfc.com/news/djed-spence-wants-liverpool-transfer-tottenham-hotspur/) and can fill in on both flanks, making him an intriguing homegrown option to have.
However, Romano says he has heard nothing on Liverpool potentially making a move for the Tottenham man.
“On Liverpool, there are many reports on the right-back position,” said Romano on his YouTube channel.
“If I hear something, I’ll let you know. At the moment, I’m not aware of movements for Djed Spence, despite reports.”
Romano also confirmed that Liverpool are keeping an eye on central defenders across the planet.
Between signing a versatile central defender as a versatile full back, the Anfield faithful would prefer the former, I think. So someone like Ezri Konsa, for example, fits the bill better than Spence at this point in time.
