Fabrizio Romano has named the position Liverpool fans should “keep an eye on” heading into the final weeks of the window.
Liverpool fans are growing increasingly restless as the transfer window edges towards its final weeks, with the Anfield faithful desperate to see fresh faces walk through the door before the deadline slams shut.
The Reds’ pursuit of a marquee attacking reinforcement has dominated headlines all summer.

Bradley Barcola remains firmly at the top of that wishlist. Liverpool have already tabled an opening bid.
Encouragingly for supporters, Barcola himself is understood to be fully on board with a move to Merseyside.
Elsewhere, Liverpool’s transfer business hasn’t been limited to attacking areas. Djed Spence has repeatedly been floated as a potential option to bolster the full-back ranks.
However, it looks like instead the centre-back area will be instead the position the club focuses on in the final weeks of the window.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said that the centre-back position is one to “keep an eye on” – more so than the right-back position:
“Then guys, let me say something on Liverpool and defenders. There are many reports on the right-back position, for the moment I’m not aware of movement for Djed Spence despite reports.”
“For Liverpool, keep an eye on centre-backs. What I’m hearing is Liverpool could consider a move for a centre-back in the summer transfer window in this final weeks – they could add one more player in this position. It’s not something to exclude.”
“So more than right-back in this specific moment, I will keep an eye also on the centre-back position.”
Giovanni Leoni continues his long road back from the ACL injury suffered on his debut last September, with the 19-year-old only just returning to outdoor training and not expected to be fully match-ready until September.
Meanwhile, £60m summer arrival Jeremy Jacquet has been managed carefully following shoulder surgery, and while Andoni Iraola has declared him “fully fit and ready to go,” question marks over his sharpness and match fitness persist.
