Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso was linked with a move to Manchester City in 2025. While a deal never materialised, the Citizens could still have hope of signing him.
The Italian never recovered from the failed move to the Etihad Stadium. Since January 2025, his performances have been inconsistent and he has faced quite a bit of criticism from Juventus fans.
Sport Witness have covered how he has often looked a shadow of himself. In February of this year, Cambiaso was infamously booed off by Juve supporters after he made an error against Lazio.
There were some good games in the second half of the campaign but his future is far from certain.
Cambiaso’s agent speaks
The left-back’s agent Giovanni Bia spoke to Sky Italia – via TuttoJuve, about his client’s situation in Turin.
He addressed rumours surrounding his future, indicating that he could still be open to joining Manchester City.
Bia said: “There is no reason why Andrea should leave Juve. Unless a very important offer arrives, one that satisfies the club and Andrea.”
“Has this offer arrived? Not yet. Manchester City came very close last year, but it didn’t pan out. This year there’s only been interest, both major and minor. Andrea isn’t considering the minor ones.”

The agent further explained the 26-year-old would only join a top club. If no one steps forward, he will be happy to stay in Turin.
“Either he goes to a top club, where he’d be happy and that would benefit Juve, and then we can talk about it. But he won’t go to other teams, even medium-sized English ones that might offer more money than Juventus.
“With all due respect to other clubs, if you go to the youth club and ask the kids where they want to play, they’ll say Inter, Milan, or Juventus. He’s at Juve, why should he leave?”
Our take: Cambiaso could be a good signing for the Citizens
Andrea Cambiaso
While Manchester City do have left-back options in Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nico O’Reilly, Cambiaso offers something different. He is very versatile and can also play in attacking positions, and always likes to invert into midfield.
At Chelsea, Enzo Maresca showed that he uses his full-backs in that way. Marc Cucurella constantly strayed inside instead of bombing forward.
A role like that will suit Cambiaso. His technical ability is likely the reason why Pep Guardiola wanted him. Now, his value has reduced significantly and he could come in as an affordable squad player for his compatriot.
