Arsenal face a fresh decision over Gabriel Jesus after Napoli opened discussions with the Brazilian forward’s representatives.
A move taking Gabriel Jesus to Napoli is now a genuine possibility, but the Gunners have made their position clear by insisting they will only consider a permanent departure.
Fabrizio Romano reported on X that Napoli have made contact with Jesus’ camp over a possible summer move, with discussions now under way.
Romano added that Arsenal are only prepared to sanction a permanent transfer rather than a loan. Jesus is also now represented by the same agency as Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri, potentially giving the Serie A club a useful connection as they explore a deal.

Arsenal have continued reshaping their attacking options throughout the summer, and another senior departure would give Andrea Berta further room to manoeuvre before the transfer window closes.
The Gunners are still looking at possible additions. ReadArsenal reported on Thursday that Arsenal have made an enquiry for Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, although there is currently no suggestion that the two situations directly depend on each other.
For Jesus, the interest provides a potential route towards more regular football. Napoli have now gone beyond simply monitoring his situation by speaking to his representatives, although the structure of any eventual proposal will be important.
Arsenal’s permanent-sale stance also prevents the Brazilian’s future simply being pushed further down the road. If Napoli want to progress, they will have to satisfy the Gunners with a permanent package.
The next development should therefore centre on whether the Italian champions turn their initial contact into a formal approach.
