Bologna need to resist any Everton bid for Jonathan Rowe this summer, despite the obvious temptations of a sale.
That’s the opinion of journalist Marco Vigarani in Corriere di Bologna. He believes that the Italian side must ‘resist losing another key player’, despite the fact that they are ‘more vulnerable than ever’.
Everton offer knocked back
The journalist believes that the summer is a ‘season of temptation’ for football clubs, and Bologna are no different.
They’ve already been busy as it is, with striker Sandro Castro joining Roma in a big money deal and Remo Freuler also departing.
Their squad, which has achieved Champions League football and won the Coppa Italian in the last two years, is being quietly dismantled. And Vigarani now believes that must come to a halt.
He believes that Bologna are ‘more vulnerable than ever’ to the temptation of another sale, such as Jonathan Rowe. He’s a target for Everton, who have already seen a €35m offer turned away. A report this week then stated a further bid could see Bologna’s resolve weaken.
Opportunity remains for Toffees
Vigarani urges the Italian club to ignore these calls entirely. He also wants Bologna to nip in the bud any ambitions his agents may have. They have reportedly tried to secure the 23-year-old a move to Türkiye.
In fact, he thinks any proposal should be rejected ‘out of hand’, particularly as there will be more money incoming from the sales anyway. €20m alone is on the cards for defender Jhon Lucumí. Manchester United are believed to be considering the Colombian centre-back.

As far as Vigarani is concerned, the circa €80m Bologna have made this summer should be enough. They do not need the extra money from selling Jonathan Rowe to Everton, despite how tempting it may be.
He wants the club to make a stance. Everton should take note. The word from Bologna appears to be that the Italian side can be tempted, despite reports to the contrary.
