Everton’s Jordan Pickford is not on the move to Mexico with Tigres, despite any suggestions to the contrary.
Capital Estado de México completely dismiss the potential transfer today, insisting that there is nothing going on with the 32-year-old at this moment in time.
Everton Exit Dismissed
The newspaper explains that while Tigres ‘surprised their fans’ with a rumour that got many dreaming this week – the possible arrival of Jordan Pickford from Everton – there is nothing to it.
As of now, there is no confirmed offer, official interest or credible report linking the Everton goalkeeper with a move to Liga MX.
According to the newspaper, the idea is a simple production of the Liga MX transfer market on social media.
The story of a potential move for Pickford quickly went viral among the auriazul fanbase.
Some even claimed that Tigres would be willing to pay $16m for the Everton number one.
However, the reality is very different. Capital Estado de México report that there is no official confirmation from Tigres, Everton or ‘any specialised transfer news source’.
The alleged interest is nothing more than a fabrication from the ‘rumour pages, sports entertainment accounts and content creators’ on various platforms.
A Rumour With No Reality
There have been no statements, confirmed negotiations or reports from ‘recognised international journalists’. The Pickford story is more a viral social media story than a genuine move by Tigres’ management.
It would make little sense anyway. Jordan Pickford recently renewed his deal with Everton and is considered a key player under David Moyes. Luring him away from entail a ‘complex negotiation’ in both sporting and financial terms.
Furthermore, Tigres’ management are currently focused on addressing other needs in the squad. They want a centre-forward more than anything.
The reality is that there are no clear signs that the Everton goalkeeper is a target for Tigres. As far as Capital Estado de México are concerned, that rumour can be dismissed out of hand.
