Aston Villa ‘increasingly concerned’ about losing £60m Liverpool transfer target

In typically summer transfer window fashion, contrasting reports have emerged on Liverpool’s idea to reinforce their backline.

Sky Sports reported earlier this week that the Reds will not sign a defender this summer despite injuries to Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez.

This morning, however, Fabrizio Romano claimed Liverpool are open to signing a centre-back, although everything depends on what kind of value they find in the transfer market.

After the 2026 FIFA World Cup concluded, Ezri Konsa has emerged as a target for Liverpool and Arsenal.

And now, the Daily Mail have published an interesting bit of detail that will be well-received at Anfield.

Liverpool target Ezri Konsa could leave Aston Villa

Konsa is valued at around £60m after his strong displays for Aston Villa and England. The experienced central defender is also capable of playing as a right back, making him an intriguing option to have in the squad.

Last month, reports from Spain claimed Arsenal had bid €75m for Konsa, but there have been no updates on the matter since.

And now, writing for the Daily Mail, Tom Collomosse believes Aston Villa are ‘increasingly concerned’ about losing the England international amid interest from two Premier League giants.

An excerpt from the article reads, “Arsenal have not given up hope of landing Konsa, who is needed while they handle injuries to William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Ben White.

“The champions will have to do better than the original offer, though, which was believed to be little more than half of Villa’s £60m valuation.

“That did not go down well with co-owner Nassef Sawiris, but it is thought the Villa squad are becoming increasingly concerned about the possibility of Konsa departing.”

Konsa would be an incredible addition for Liverpool. He’d cover two positions, bring a lot of experience and also count as a homegrown option.

If the Reds aren’t averse to spending money, they can’t do any better than the Aston Villa man at this stage of the summer transfer window.
