Abraham Owusu-Gyasi was the hero as Arsenal U17s beat the Shanghai FA 4-3 on penalties to reach the final of the Shanghai Future Star Cup.

Arsenal will now take on the China FA in Sunday’s final.

The game had ended 2-2 after normal time, with Daniel McCarron and Jaden Maghoma scoring for Arsenal, the latter finding the net from the penalty spot.

Arsenal took the lead through McCarron but Shanghai equalised after the break as Liang Jinhong scored a penalty.

Substitute Maghoma netted his fourth goal of the tournament from the penalty spot as Arsenal looked to have scored a late winner.

However, Li Wenbo netted late on for Shanghai to send the game to penalties.

Shanghai scored their first penalty, with Luis Munoz then doing likewise for Arsenal.

Both sides then converted their second spot-kicks with Maghoma making no mistake.

Shanghai missed their third penalty but Arsenal squandered the chance to take advantage as Saurap Sampang’s effort was kept out.

Arsenal goalkeeper Jack Talbot did well to save Shanghai’s next effort and then Bowen Phillips netted to put the young Gunners in the ascendancy.

Although Shanghai scored their next penalty it ultimately didn’t matter as Owusu-Gyasi stepped up to send Arsenal to the final.

Arsenal will face China, who beat them 3-2 on Monday in the opening group game.
