Tottenham are open to offers for their star defender this summer.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence.
Djed Spence was a part of the Spurs side that narrowly avoided relegation last season. After a mixed campaign, he surprised many with solid performances for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The full-back’s displays in North American has caught the attention of several clubs.
Inter Milan had set their sights on luring Djed Spence away earlier this summer, only for those ambitions to be dashed after Tottenham’s high demands. In the Premier League, Liverpool and Manchester United have been showing an interest in the 25-year-old, who seems open to a departure from N17 for regular opportunities.
Fabrizio Romano provides latest update on Liverpool links with Djed Spence
Despite his brilliant performances to help England clinch a third-place finish at the World Cup, Spence is likely to find himself behind new signing Andy Robertson on the left and Pedro Porro on the right. Thus, Spurs are open to offers for the 25-year-old and value him at around £35million.
However, as per reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have no intention of signing the Tottenham star. The Reds have been strongly linked with the England international, but the Italian transfer news guru claims that he has been told there is no reality to the rumours.
“Djed Spence, at the moment, I don’t have any concrete information on Liverpool, to be honest,” Fabrizio Romano said on the Market Madness podcast.
“So, let’s see if they will jump into the race. But at the moment, I’m told there is not something concrete between Djed Spence and Liverpool so far.”
Andoni Iraola has been hit with many defensive injuries during his first pre-season as Liverpool boss.
Virgil van Dijk has been easing back to fitness after his World Cup duty, Joe Gomez was injured in the first game of pre-season, while new signing Jeremy Jacquet is still yet to feature after suffering a shoulder injury for French club Rennes. Conor Bradley suffered a serious knee injury last season and is still recovering from it, meaning Iraola’s options at right-back are depleted heading into the new season.
Regardless of what their squad requires, the Merseysiders are not currently in the race for Spence’s signature. The England international’s ability to play on both sides of the defence adds more value to his name, and while Romano has revealed Liverpool aren’t vying for his services, there is a big possibility that the Merseysiders make a late attempt in the window to sign Spence.
So, Tottenham have to be ready to deal with the situation then.
