Former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, who left for a fee of around $54 million (£40 million) in 2023, has left Al Ittihad as a free agent three years after his Anfield exit.
Fabinho's standout campaign in the Middle East came in 2024/25, when he captained Al-Ittihad to victory in both the Saudi Pro League and the King’s Cup.
The Brazilian, who was at this summer's World Cup under Carlo Ancelotti, was offered new terms, but on a reduced wage, and opted to depart. His next destination has not yet been confirmed, though he flirted with the idea of rejoining Real Madrid a few months ago.
"A farewell to a brave captain, who arrived as a star with all humility, led his team with great competence, and left as a lover, after leaving an unforgettable mark," Al Ittihad posted alongside an emotional video on Instagram.
"He was an example of professionalism, a role model for everyone around him on and off the pitch, and a name deserving to be preserved in the list of those who wore the captain's armband of the Dean in a historic era, during which he contributed to making exceptional glory.
"Thank you, Fabinho. You will remain a shining star in the sky of the fans."

The Brazilian then sent his own message to Al-Ittihad's fans.
He wrote: "Today, my journey with you as a player ends, and my journey as a supporter of this club begins.
"Thank you for the welcome and warmth I found from you. I was honored to wear the captain's armband of this prestigious club, and I lived a distinctive phase in my sporting career alongside you.
"We shared joys and sorrows and won the cups together, and I enjoyed watching your creativity in the stands, until I found myself chanting the songs with you with all love.

"I hope that I never spared any effort in serving this entity. Thank you again. Al-Ittihad will always remain in my heart."
Liverpool.com says: In his prime, Fabinho was exactly what the Reds need now. He could snap into a tackle and intercept passes with ease, before finding a perfect pass.
Finding someone like that is tricky, which is why Manchester City will be desperate to keep Rodri amid interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. Fabinho and the Spaniard were similar when the former was at his best.
