Ezri Konsa to Liverpool? The links continue…
With just over three weeks left in the transfer window, Liverpool are exploring the market for a new defender – and Aston Villa‘s Konsa continues to be linked.
The Mail‘s Midlands reporter Tom Collomosse is the latest to credit the Reds with an interest in the England international.

Arsenal are more prominent in the equation, but Konsa’s experience, homegrown eligibility and ability to play both centre-back and right-back to a high standard will no doubt appeal to Liverpool.
Villa have already rebuffed a bid from Arsenal worth “little more than half of [their] £60 million valuation,” writes Collomosse, but Konsa’s team-mates are “becoming increasingly concerned” he will leave.
Whether Liverpool enter the fray for a player who will turn 29 in October is questionable, but there is certainly an argument that he is exactly what they need.

On this day in 1999, Liverpool played their opening Premier League game of 1999/00 at Sheffield Wednesday.
Gerard Houllier named five debutants in his side: Titi Camara, Dietmar Hamann, Sami Hyypia, Vladimir Smicer and Sander Westerveld, with Erik Meijer making his bow from the bench – a record number of debutants in a Liverpool match.
Camara netted one of 10 goals in his only season at the club, to see the Reds take a 2-0 lead after Robbie Fowler‘s opener.
Houllier would guide the Reds to a fourth-placed finish that season.
