Mexican winger Chucky Lozano has joined the LA Galaxy on loan from San Diego FC, finally getting his move away from the club after being frozen out of the team all year by his current Californian club.
San Diego have been looking to get rid of him since the offseason despite his 11 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions last season due to off-field differences. LA have added him on loan, where he will remain a designated player through the end of the season in a low-risk, high-reward transfer.
The Galaxy’s other DP slots are filled by Brazilian striker João Klauss, Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil and another former Barcelona midfielder, Riqui Puig. Puig has not played since late 2024 after needing multiple ACL reconstruction surgeries, and will not play again this year so his DP slot is open for now.

Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto is also on the way according to Fabrizio Romano.
Born in Reus, Spain, Roberto is now set to join up with German star Marco Reus in LA. He will not be a designated player, adding real quality to the Galaxy’s midfield for a reasonable cap hit — the kind of move that can turn good MLS teams into great ones… or underperforming teams into decent ones.
The 34-year-old Spaniard spent most of his career at Spanish giants Barcelona from 2010 to 2024, making almost 300 appearances before signing for former teammate Cesc Fabregas at rising Serie A side Como and spending two seasons in Italy. He is now set to join former Toronto FC manager Greg Vanney in LA, but he’s not the only major addition.
The club has had a busy summer in the transfer market, also adding Japanese attacker and former Celtic standout Kyōgo Furuhashi as well as Robert Taylor — former partner-in-crime to Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, who was more recently with Austin FC.
The Galaxy need to turn their season around — sitting 12th in the Western Conference with 22 points from 19 games, but just two points back of a wild card spot. The team has high ambitions and will be hoping they can put all of their new pieces together quickly to avoid missing the playoffs for the second year in a row after winning the 2024 MLS Cup.
San Diego are one spot back of them after surprisingly topping the Western Conference in their inaugural season in 2025.
