Texas Longhorns Get Huge Addition On Offense

In response to a federal judge’s ruling, Cole Hutson has returned to the Texas Longhorns as a top offensive lineman. In April, Hutson went un-drafted and attended minicamps with the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys, but did not sign a contract.

Hutson’s return to the NCAA was approved after an agreement had been reached with the NCAA. After a legal dispute with the NCAA over their new age-based eligibility rule, Hutson reached this agreement. In Colorado, the ruling in favor of athletes from the 2022 recruiting class extended their eligibility by one year, according to Yahoo Sports.

As an initial Longhorns commitment, Hutson was rated a four-star prospect, standing 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 308 pounds.

During his four-year career, he appeared in 48 games and made 23 starts. After starting last season as a center, he moved to left guard, helping stabilize the offensive line.

Hutson sued the NCAA because of its new eligibility model, which gives athletes five years regardless of playing time.Starting this August, the eligibility clock will start based on enrollment or age instead of redshirting.
