The summer transfer window is well underway, with Premier League clubs continuing to complete major deals, including Bruno Guimaraes’ move to Arsenal.
However, Mikel Arteta is already looking at alternative targets after Vinicius Junior signed a new contract with Real Madrid.

Arsenal could turn their attention to Bradley Barcola, although the PSG winger reportedly prefers a move to Liverpool, with reports claiming he has agreed personal terms with the Reds. Liverpool are also monitoring Ibrahim Mbaye as they consider a potential double transfer swoop.
Meanwhile, Rodri’s future at Manchester City is emerging as one of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas. After being linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona have now entered the race for the Spain international.
Elsewhere, National League side Altrincham have officially confirmed the signing of former Liverpool goalkeeper Andy Firth as a player/goalkeeper coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 29-year-old joins the Robins after a spell in Saudi Arabia as Al-Ettifaq’s goalkeeper coach. Firth reunites with Neil Gibson, who he previously worked under at Connah’s Quay Nomads between 2022 and 2024.
A product of Liverpool’s academy, Firth spent time on loan at Witton Albion and Chester before spells with Barrow and Rangers. He later moved to Saudi Arabia, where he reunited with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
Andy Firth said: “I’m delighted to have joined Alty in a player coach role for the new season and I’m really looking forward to working with the gaffer and Jonah again.
“I’m excited to get started working with the talented group of goalkeepers at the club and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together this season.”
Manager Neil Gibson added: “Andy’s extremely well respected in the game and vastly experienced both with spells at big clubs like Liverpool and Glasgow Rangers and in the National League with Barrow.
“He was our starting goalie for two years at Connah’s Quay, he’s been a first choice, second choice and third choice at different levels, so he’s more than capable of being a good back-up to Owen Evans, which allows us to look at loan options for Louie Fallon and Max Beddow, to push on their development as well.
“In terms of coaching he’s worked in Liverpool’s academy, been a training goalie for Liverpool’s first team and he’s been in Saudi Arabia coaching in recent years, too.”
