Liverpool are keeping tabs on Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, according to the Daily Mail reporter Tom Collomosse.
The journalist has strong sources in the Midlands, and he claims that the Reds are “monitoring the situation” of the England international.
There has been a mixed reaction to the report on X, with some fans believing Konsa would be a good addition, while others question whether he is worth his reported £60m asking price:
Not a fan of this move. Terrible at RB. Average CB. He’s going to cost easily £50m+?

He's an ideal profile, but we shouldn't overpay for a squad option like him

No way do we sign him at 28 for that price unless we are completely desperate. Spence is more likely when Gakpo deal starts escalating.

Same way we monitored Guehi all through last summer. They better know what they are doing.

Do we really need him??

Yeah well happy with konsa

There is competition for Konsa
Arsenal are actively pursuing the 28-year-old, with Collomosse claiming that the Gunners have already had one bid knocked back for the player.
The Premier League champions are keen on shoring up their defence due to injuries. William Saliba is set to be out of action for several months with a back problem, while Jurrien Timber is still in rehabilitation following minor surgery on a groin issue.

Do Liverpool have other targets?
Konsa’s ability to play right-back and centre-half means that he would be an ideal target if sporting director Richard Hughes wants someone who can provide cover in both positions.
However, the decision to sign Ronald Araujo on a season-long loan from Barcelona would suggest that that the club would be more inclined to sign a more traditional right-back instead.
Tottenham’s Djed Spence has reportedly been offered to the Reds, but at this stage, it doesn’t look like the Merseyside club will actively pursue a move for the 25-year-old.
Until recently, it seemed that Hughes wasn’t going to strengthen the defence, but the the decision to sign Araujo and this fresh link to Konsa does indicate more reinforcements could arrive before the transfer window closes.
