Super Bowl champion & former NFL star, Fred Stokes, on a mission, in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - There was a really cool event on Friday night, over at the Reitz Bowl. Following the Panthers’ annual, blue-gray scrimmage, a former NFL star, took the field!

Former Washington Redskin and L.A. Ram, Fred Stokes, was in Evansville, to speak about his faith-based, non-profit organization, “Lint Brother”.

Its mission statement is, to “Empower men to be emotionally free, not emotionless”. Now “Lint” stands for “Life I Never Tell”, and Stokes started this ministry, because he believes that every man needs at least, one other man, that he can talk with, and bare his soul to.

We spoke with Fred Stokes, during the event, and he tells 14 News Sports a little bit about his mission.

Stokes played 10 years in the NFL, and won Super Bowl XXVI, with Washington, back in 1991. If you missed Friday night’s event, Stokes will be speaking at West Side Christian Church, Saturday morning, from 8:00 to 9:30.
