Andoni Iraola's preference in the transfer market spells a telling story for Liverpool fans. It's been a quiet summer at Anfield, with Victor Munoz's arrival marking the only signing the Reds boss has welcomed.

Jeremy Jacquet may have officially become a Liverpool player under Iraola's watch, but the deal to bring the Frenchman to Merseyside was clinched during Arne Slot's tenure. While the lack of incomings has resulted in growing tension among the Liverpool fanbase, Iraola's past dealings at Bournemouth suggest there could be a wave of business in the coming days and weeks.

The 43-year-old permanently signed just one player on transfer deadline day in three years as the Cherries boss, with Veljko Milosavljevic's £13million deal on September 1, 2025, being that sole move.

A majority of the Bournemouth signings under Iraola's watch were completed in time either for pre-season or before the Premier League season began. There are 15 days until the Reds' season-opener away to Newcastle United on August 23 and with each day passing, it raises the possibility of new additions being added to the Spaniard's squad.

As reported by the ECHO, the Reds have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola. The France international has been a primary target for much of the summer as Liverpool looks to strengthen their attacking options.

However, a sticking point over the move is the valuation of the 23-year-old. The French champions are thought to desire a fee of £140m for his services, as the Reds are aiming to negotiate a lower fee.

The Premier League side have received encouraging signals from Barcola's camp, with the possible transfer likely to be the Reds' third time breaking the £100m barrier, following last year's signings of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

An acquisition of Barcola wouldn't be the only bit of business the club would hope to achieve in Paris. It emerged earlier this week that Liverpool are weighing up a move for his team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye.

The 18-year-old is predominantly a right-winger, but capable of playing on the left and would add much-needed pace and dynamism on the wing. The Senegal international is said to be valued at between £34.2m and £43m and has already been subject to interest from RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.

The two signings would give Iraola the versatility and explosiveness he requires on the flanks, but his injury-hit defence remains a cause for concern. With Virgil van Dijk the only current fit senior centre-back at the club, fans would have breathed a sigh of relief after reports claiming the Reds were considering signing Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa.

The 28-year-old is fresh off an impressive World Cup campaign with England and has been linked with a move away from Villa Park this summer. According to the Guardian, the Reds could battle Arsenal in the chase for the centre-back, who is set to command a £60m fee.
