Chelsea news: €21m deal agreed, £120m threat and Jackson twist
Chelsea news moved quickly on Friday as another summer signing moved towards completion, fresh interest emerged in Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson’s potential exit became more complicated.
Xabi Alonso also continued laying out his plans for the new season, while Chelsea Women prepared for a historic fixture in New Zealand.

Chelsea moved another step closer to signing Pep Chavarria after reaching a full agreement with Rayo Vallecano.

Enzo Fernandez attracts Manchester City interest
One of Friday’s biggest developments concerned Fernandez.
Manchester City could reportedly move for the Argentina international if Rodri leaves this summer, with Fernandez emerging as a leading midfield target.

Jackson exit faces unusual complication
Nicolas Jackson’s future also produced a late development on Friday.
Aston Villa remain interested in the striker, but Morgan Rogers’ £117m move in the opposite direction could affect the timing of any agreement.
UEFA regulations consider transfers completed between the same clubs within 45 days when assessing whether transactions should be treated as exchanges for financial reporting purposes.

Chelsea also have work to do elsewhere in Alonso’s squad.
