Chelsea’s summer transfer window has been dominated by talk of Enzo Fernandez wanting to leave the club, however an update from South America suggests he is starting to change his mind.
Even before the window opened, Fernandez has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the player himself admitting his admiration for the city.
However, up to now there has been no offer from the Spanish giants to sign him, and although there is interest from Manchester City, no contact has been made between the two sides.

Enzo Fernandez now open to staying at Chelsea
South American journalist Cesar Luis Merlo has given an update on the midfielder’s future with the Premier League season just two weeks away.
Despite popular belief, he told MVP Sports that Fernandez does not want to leave the club, and is actually happy at Chelsea if no significant bid comes in.

He said: “Enzo Fernandez does not want to leave Chelsea, he’s actually happy there, it’s just that if an offer comes that suits both parties, he will consider it. Chelsea, at the very minimum, wants to recover the fee they paid for him to join.
“I asked people close to him about City, and they said nothing as of today, it’s just speculation because common sense dictates this link between Maresca and Enzo.”
Fernandez and Enzo Maresca had a strong relationship at Stamford Bridge, and the Italian could be on the lookout for a new midfielder for his starting XI soon.
Rodri is pushing for a move to Barcelona, and on paper Fernandez looks like a perfect replacement for the Spaniard if he does depart.
Xabi Alonso needs Enzo Fernandez answers
Alonso is just starting to work on tactical shape with his Chelsea side, although his starting XI to face Fulham will depend on if Fernandez is still at the club.
It has already become clear that the boss doesn’t have full faith in options like Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo, with 16-year-old Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli getting plenty of minutes during pre-season.
A Fernandez exit would need Chelsea to invest in another new midfielder, and the closer that time gets to deadline day the more difficult those deals will be to pull off.
The Blues would love for this saga to be sorted soon, and there is now some confidence amongst supporters that he could stay at the club.
