Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has reportedly given the green light for Marc Guiu to leave the club this summer following internal discussions over the striker’s future.
According to reports, Chelsea have held talks regarding Guiu and are now prepared to consider a permanent departure for the Spaniard with a fee of around £30 million being reported.
The development would represent a significant change in Guiu’s situation after the Spain Under-21 international joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2024.
Guiu arrived at Stamford Bridge as one of the club’s promising young forwards, having made his senior debut for Barcelona during the 2023-24 season. Chelsea won the race for his signature after activating a release clause in his contract.
However, competition for places in Chelsea’s attack has made regular first-team opportunities difficult to secure. The club have continued to invest heavily in attacking positions, leaving Guiu facing increased competition as Alonso assesses his squad ahead of the new campaign.
The latest reports suggest internal discussions have taken place over whether Guiu remains part of Alonso’s plans, with the Chelsea head coach said to have approved the possibility of a transfer.
A valuation of £30 million would allow Chelsea to recoup a substantial fee for a player who still has considerable potential, while also giving Guiu the opportunity to seek more consistent first-team football elsewhere.
Guiu spent the 2024-25 campaign with Chelsea before gaining further experience away from Stamford Bridge. His development has been closely monitored by the club, but uncertainty over his long-term role has prompted speculation over a possible exit this summer.
Any permanent transfer would also underline CHELSEA’s willingness to make difficult decisions regarding their younger players as the club continues to reshape its squad.
The reported £30 million asking price could attract interest from clubs looking for a young striker with experience at the highest level. Guiu’s age and previous development at Barcelona are likely to make him an appealing option despite his limited Premier League starts.
There has been no official confirmation from Chelsea that Guiu is available for transfer or that a £30 million fee has been formally set.
For now, the reports indicate that Alonso is open to Guiu leaving Stamford Bridge, with the club now potentially prepared to listen to offers for the striker
