Liverpool are on the verge of submitting a new bid for Bradley Barcola, but with time ticking away in the 2026 summer transfer window, there remains a sense that FSG entered this period without a plan.
When Arne Slot was sacked after the end of the 2025/26 season, it was met with approval by most fans, while the appointment of Andoni Iraola has inspired a level of hope that vanished over the course of last season.
However, that hope is fading due to an apparent lack of forethought from FSG regarding the club’s transfers this summer.
Now, all hopes ahead of next season are contingent on how successful the next few weeks go with the transfer window slamming shut on 1 September at 11 pm.
Liverpool set to submit £98m bid for Bradley Barcola but it will not be accepted by PSG
According to L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi, Liverpool are set to make an offer worth €115m (£98m) for Barcola, but it’s likely to be rejected immediately.
He states: “Liverpool are set to submit an offer worth around €115m for Bradley Barcola. It is expected to be rejected. In this case, the Paris hierarchy now say they could accept an offer in excess of €150m, excluding bonuses.
“Despite the gap between the two clubs’ valuations, all parties consider the talks to be progressing smoothly. Richard Hughes and Campos are leading the negotiations, working alongside Moussa Sissoko, Barcola’s representative.”

However, a claim from Sacha Tavolieri suggests that PSG are yet to receive any written offers at all from the Reds.
He reports: “For now, Paris Saint-Germain has still not received any written offer from Liverpool FC for Bradley Barcola.
“In the ongoing discussions, the Reds made sure to let it be known that they don’t have the means to pay the asking price to buy the Frenchman.”

It’s important to note that this does not mean that verbal offers haven’t been made.
Liverpool are biding their time, but time is running out…
There appears to be a lot of media posturing going on from both clubs in what has now become a rather tedious transfer saga to follow.
If Liverpool sign Barcola, it will be well worth it in the end as the French star is a truly fantastic player and takes Andoni Iraola’s team to a whole new level.
That said, if this falls through, it will be dire. Barcola is really the only serious wide option Liverpool have, which is likely why it has taken so long to negotiate with PSG. The Parisians will be well aware of the lack of quality available in the winger market this summer, but the longer this drags on the more concerning it gets.
