Crystal Palace have submitted a loan offer including an obligation to buy for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, according to reports in France.
French journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports that Disasi has emerged as Palace’s priority target as they look to replace Maxence Lacroix, who completed his move from Selhurst Park to Chelsea last month.
Negotiations between Palace and Chelsea are understood to be ongoing, with the structure of the proposed deal still being discussed. A meeting has also taken place between Palace and Disasi’s representatives as the south London club step up their efforts to bring the France international back to the Premier League.
The proposed agreement would see Disasi initially join Palace on loan before a permanent transfer is triggered under the terms of the obligation to buy.
Palace are seeking defensive reinforcements following the departure of Lacroix, who joined Chelsea on a long-term contract after helping the Eagles enjoy a successful 2025-26 campaign.
CHELSEA officially confirmed Lacroix’s arrival in July, with the 26-year-old signing a contract until 2032 after two seasons at Selhurst Park. He made 98 appearances for Palace and played a key role in the club’s FA Cup and UEFA Conference League triumphs.
Disasi, meanwhile, is considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and is available for a move this summer as Chelsea continue to reshape their squad.
The 28-year-old centre-back spent the previous season on loan at West Ham, where he gained regular Premier League experience. A permanent move to the Hammers did not materialise following their relegation, leaving Disasi facing an uncertain future at Chelsea.
Palace’s interest now provides the defender with another opportunity to remain in the Premier League.
The proposed loan-to-buy structure could also help facilitate the transfer following the clubs’ recent business involving Lacroix. Palace’s sale of their former defender to Chelsea and a potential move in the opposite direction for Disasi have raised questions over how the transactions could be treated under UEFA’s financial regulations.
For Palace, Disasi would bring Premier League experience and familiarity with the English game as they seek to rebuild their central defensive options.
For CHELSEA, the deal would represent another opportunity to move on a player who has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter since arriving at Stamford Bridge.
