Fabrizio Romano confirms how much Liverpool will have to pay to sign Ronald Araujo permanently
Liverpool have finally made their move for a defender with a shock loan deal for Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo.
Various sources have confirmed that the Uruguayan international will move to Anfield on a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Araujo is an experienced campaigner and is also capable of playing as a right-back, ticking two boxes for the Reds.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed how much Liverpool will have to shell out if they want to sign him permanently next summer.
Liverpool have €55m buy option for Araujo
Romano clarified that it is an option to buy and not a mandatory clause, making it a low-risk option for the Reds
“Ronald Araujo doesn’t travel with Barça squad today as he’s flying to Liverpool tomorrow for medical tests,” wrote Romano on X.

“The buy option clause worth €55m (as per @ffpolo) for June 2027 is not mandatory, while #LFC will cover full salary.”
According to all the reporting, the Reds will not pay a loan fee and cover 100% of his wages while also having an option to sign him for around £47m.
If he shows his class at Anfield, that is hardly a huge fee to pay for a player who has been a key figure for Barcelona and Uruguay over the years.
That said, Araujo hasn’t been at his best for nearly 18 months now and has struggled with his fair share of injuries, so he has a lot to prove to get his career back on track.
