Arsenal have turned their attention to Juventus star Kenan Yildiz after missing out on Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior.
La Stampa, relayed by CM.it, report that the Gunners have set their sights on the Juventus number ten.
Arsenal want ‘major attacking signing’
The Gunners are stilling seeking a ‘major attacking signing’ this summer after targeting Vinicius Junior. They have now identified Kenan Yildiz as a concrete alternative to the Brazilian winger.
Vinicius had been Arsenal’s primary target but has instead signed a new, improved long-term deal at the Santiago Bernabeu. That’s closed the door to a move to the Emirates completely.
Those developments have prompted Arsenal’s management to give ‘serious consideration’ to the ‘the Yildiz option’. He has now risen to the top of the Gunners’ wish list.
Arsenal will need to work hard to convince Juventus into parting ways with the forward, though. Any offer from Arsenal would be considered but the Bianconeri’s stance is ‘far from flexible’.
€100m will be needed
The Italian side would require a proposal well exceeding €100m to even sit down at the negotiating table. They want to put out a clear message: Yildiz is not on the market, at least under ordinary terms.
Only an extraordinary, market-defying figure could change the situation and open the door to a potential move to the Premier League. It remains to be seen if Arsenal’s interest evolves into a concrete push to sign the 21-year-old.
Their efforts to sign Vinicius Junior have indicated to the market that they have funds to spend if they want to.
As a consequence, the likes of Juventus are not going to accept being low-balled for a player like Yildiz. They want a top, triple digit sum before they will even sit down at the negotiating table. Now eyes are on Arsenal to see if they make such a bid.
