Liverpool’s surprise move for Ronald Araújo is now edging closer to completion.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Barcelona defender will fly to Liverpool tomorrow to undergo his medical tests ahead of his reported loan move to Anfield.
The deal also contains a €55 million buy option for June 2027.
Importantly, however, that option is not mandatory.
Liverpool Have Flexibility
The structure of the agreement could prove extremely useful for Liverpool.
Rather than committing immediately to a permanent €55 million transfer, the Reds will reportedly have an entire season to assess Araújo under Andoni Iraola.
If he proves to be the right fit, Liverpool can potentially make the move permanent.
If circumstances change, they are not obliged to trigger the clause.
That gives the club considerable flexibility.
A Surprise Defensive Addition
Araújo’s arrival has caught many Liverpool supporters by surprise.
