Marc Guiu could be set to leave Chelsea this summer after head coach Xabi Alonso reportedly gave the green light for the young striker to depart Stamford Bridge.
The decision is understood to have followed internal discussions over Guiu’s future, with Chelsea weighing up the best next step for a player who arrived at the club with considerable potential but has struggled to establish himself as a regular first-team option.
Guiu joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2024 and was viewed as a long-term investment. His physical presence, pace and natural instinct in front of goal made him an intriguing addition, but opportunities have been difficult to come by amid fierce competition for places.
With CHELSEA continuing to build a squad packed with attacking talent, Guiu’s path to consistent first-team football could become even more challenging. Alonso’s reported approval of a summer exit therefore represents a significant moment in the 20-year-old’s development.
A permanent transfer could be considered, although a loan move may also make sense if Chelsea remain convinced that Guiu can eventually become an important player for the club.

At this stage of his development, regular football should be the priority. Training every day alongside elite players is valuable, but nothing can replicate the experience of starting matches, making mistakes, scoring goals and learning how to lead the line consistently.
CHELSEA is a difficult environment for any young striker. The expectations are enormous, competition is relentless and patience can be limited when results are demanded immediately. Guiu risks becoming trapped in a cycle of brief substitute appearances without ever building the rhythm required to develop into a reliable senior forward.
A move to a club where he is trusted to play week in, week out could change everything.
Guiu does not necessarily need to leave Chelsea permanently. A successful loan spell could allow him to gain experience, improve his decision-making and develop his physical and tactical game before returning to London as a more complete player.
There is still plenty of time for Guiu to fulfil his potential. The key is making sure that potential is actually given the opportunity to develop
