Napoli are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, with Sky in Italy reporting that manager Massimiliano Allegri remains a long-term admirer of the Brazilian.
Jesus’ future at Arsenal has come under renewed scrutiny amid reports of interest from the Serie A champions, potentially opening the door to a move away from north London this summer.
According to the report, Allegri has admired Jesus for some time and could be keen to bring the experienced forward to Napoli as he looks to shape his squad ahead of the new season.
The potential transfer also has an interesting connection through the player’s representation. Jesus and Allegri are both represented by agent Giovanni Branchini, who was reportedly spotted on Friday at Napoli’s pre-season training camp in Castel di Sangro.
Branchini’s presence is not confirmation that negotiations are taking place, but it is likely to add to speculation surrounding Jesus’ future and Napoli’s reported interest in the Arsenal forward.
Jesus joined ARSENAL from Manchester City in 2022 and quickly became an important part of Mikel Arteta’s attack. His ability to operate as a centre-forward or from wide positions made him particularly valuable to the Gunners, while his experience of competing for major honours with City added further quality to the squad.
However, injuries have disrupted his time at Arsenal and limited his consistency. The Brazilian has faced significant competition for attacking places as Arteta has continued to strengthen his forward options, potentially creating uncertainty over his role moving forward.
A move to Napoli would give Jesus the opportunity to begin a new chapter in Serie A and reunite with a manager who reportedly holds him in high regard.
For Napoli, the Brazilian’s versatility could be particularly appealing. Jesus can lead the line, drift into wide areas and contribute to build-up play, offering Allegri another experienced attacking option.
The Italian club would nevertheless have to reach an agreement with Arsenal before any transfer could progress. The Gunners’ valuation of the 29-year-old and their willingness to sanction a departure are likely to be important factors.
Jesus remains under contract at ARSENAL, meaning Napoli would need to negotiate a fee if they decide to formalise their interest.
For now, the reported presence of Branchini at Napoli’s training camp is likely to intensify speculation, although there is no indication that a deal has been agreed.
