Everton make Marcus Tavernier approach
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Everton have made an enquiry over the availability of Bournemouth's Marcus Tavernier.
It's claimed that initial talks have taken place on the player's side, but the Toffees are yet to make an approach to Bournemouth.
Tavernier played 31 times for the Cherries last season, providing 11 goals and assists as they enjoyed a phenomenal campaign that saw them qualify for Europe.
Tavernier played in a variety of positions last season for Bournemouth, and he's a player capable of playing centrally and out wide.
The 27-year-old predominantly plays behind the striker, whether that be on the left, right, or through the centre. Tavernier is incredibly versatile and a complete all-rounder in terms of having a creative side and goal threat while also being strong out of possession.
It certainly feels like it won't be easy to prise Tavernier away from Bournemouth this summer, considering he played a crucial role last season. The Englishman started 31 Premier League matches, with only Antoine Semenyo and Eli Junior Kroupi providing more goals and assists.
Tavernier signed a new deal during the middle of last season, tieing him down until 2029. That further feeds into the difficulties that Everton will have in trying to convince Bournemouth to part ways.
It feels like it will be an incredibly difficult deal for the Toffees to complete, unless they pay a huge fee, which might be difficult considering his age.
There is no doubt having a player of Tavernier's ability and versatility would be useful for the Everton, but only at the right price.
