Liverpool is on the verge of making its second new signing of the summer, and not before time, with the 2026/27 season now just a couple of weeks away.
Ronald Araujo is on his way to Merseyside to undergo his medical, which is expected to take place later on Sunday, before he completes his loan move from Barcelona. Although he won’t arrive in time to face Monaco in the latest preseason friendly, his signing will be a relief to many, considering the injury problems in defense at the moment.
He will join Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet in transferring to the Reds, with the latter’s deal having been completed at the start of the year, but more additions will be needed — although a move for the club’s top target is looking especially difficult.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the latest transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds.
Bradley Barcola (PSG)
Paris Saint-Germain is standing firm on its valuation of Bradley Barcola, and the French side would ideally like to keep the winger this summer, according to Sky Sports.
The report claims there is still a significant gap between the valuations of Liverpool and PSG, with the European champions sticking by their $196 million (£145M) price tag, which makes a deal difficult.

Although a move to Liverpool is said to appeal to Barcola, a transfer would rely on PSG lowering its asking price. Despite signing Maghnes Akliouche and being in advanced talks for Ajax winger Mika Godts, the pair are not deemed to be replacements for Barcola.
Liverpool.com says: As much as PSG might be able to claim that Akliouche is not any sort of replacement for Barcola, that will surely be harder to argue for Godts, who is a left winger by trade.
Still, it might be buoyed by the fact that Arsenal might be in the running too now that Vinicius Jr. has decided to stay at Real Madrid. Liverpool could do with getting an answer either way on Barcola; it's already left things late as it stands.
Lamine Camara (Monaco)
Liverpool is "in the hunt" for Lamine Camara, but could face being beaten to his signature by Crystal Palace, according to Foot Mercato.
Both the Reds and Manchester United are claimed to have expressed an interest in the Monaco midfielder a few months ago, and are monitoring the situation patiently as they eye up midfield reinforcements.

Palace though is said to have already submitted a "concrete" offer for the $58 million (€50M) star, while Nottingham Forest is poised to follow with its own bid.
Liverpool.com says: Camara is more of a box-to-box midfielder, whereas Liverpool could probably do with a more defense-minded option this summer, if it is to sign anyone in the middle of the park. The more the summer goes on, the less likely that feels, although it should be aiming to make at least one new addition to freshen things up in that area.
