Liverpool and Man Utd remain keen on signing 22-year-old Senegal midfielder valued at £35m

Liverpool are seeking a midfield signing to bolster Andoni Iraola’s engine room and continue to be admirers of Lamine Camara.

The Reds have agreed a season-long loan deal for Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo to increase the available number of bodies in defence, with the Uruguayan 27-year-old also able to play at right back.

Meanwhile, talks continue for PSG duo Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye to increase depth and quality on the wings, although there is no telling how long those two deals will take to complete.

Despite there being a severely limited number of reports to midfielders, it appears as though Liverpool remain intent on signing a new central midfielder. How they plan to add so many non-homegrown players now remains a mystery given that the Araujo deal means they have zero available slots.

Liverpool remain interested in signing Lamine Camara from AS Monaco

A L’Equipe report from early May 2026 claimed that Liverpool were keen on signing AS Monaco stars Camara and Maghnes Akliouche in a double deal worth £70m. The latter has officially joined PSG while Camara remains available and of interest to Liverpool, valued at £35m.

Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis reports on X that Liverpool remain keen on signing 22-year-old Camara.

He reports: “Liverpool remain interested in Lamine Camara and are monitoring his situation. The Reds were already interested several months ago and remain on the lookout.

“Manchester United are also monitoring him. Crystal Palace have already made a concrete offer, while Nottingham Forest are preparing one.”

Liverpool’s midfield could really benefit from Camara’s presence

The 22-year-old might have a slight physical frame, standing at just 173 cm (5 ft 8), but the Senegal international is a terrific athlete.

Not only is he good out of possession, but he is also exactly the sort of midfielder you want under a counter-attacking head coach like Andoni Iraola.

Interestingly, with Liverpool linked with PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye, it would mean that Mbaye and Camara would be reunited given their relationship that has developed at international level for Senegal.

While not the primary reason for signing either of them, it really does help new signings to have players from similar backgrounds to help them acclimatise, especially in a league as demanding as the Premier League.
