Everton and Crystal Palace are ‘discussing a potential swap deal’ involving Dwight McNeil and Brennan Johnson, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Toffees boss David Moyes is keen to make additions in the final third before the transfer window closes, while Palace have had a quiet window so far.
The Eagles have managed to keep hold of midfielder Daichi Kamada, while two free transfers have joined in the shape of Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Crystal Palace chased Everton winger McNeil in the winter transfer window earlier this year and looked to be on course to sign him from the Toffees.
The deal though collapsed on deadline day and McNeil headed back to the Hill Dickinson.
Interest in McNeil from Crystal Palace has not gone away and now they are in talks with Everton about a deal to send Johnson the other way for him.
Palace only signed Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur in the winter window this year, but could now be ready to part with him.

Spurs legend Jurgen Klinsmann stressed when Johnson was set to join the Eagles that he was not able to add the level of goals the north London club need.
And Crystal Palace could say a quick farewell to Johnson if swap talks with Everton get over the line in the coming days and weeks.
Everton have been scouring the transfer market for wingers and had a bid for Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe knocked back recently.
Moyes’ side are also in the running for free agent wide-man Krepin Diatta, who is available after leaving Monaco earlier this summer.
While Everton did recently succeed in boosting their midfield by landing Christian Norgaard, they were unable to tempt Douglas Luiz to the Hill Dickinson, with the Brazilian turning down the Toffees.
If Johnson joins then it will add to the English football flavour of recruitment at Everton this summer, with Moyes signing players known in the domestic game.
Hayden Hackney, Norgaard, Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl are all known commodities for Moyes, while the club continue to be keen on a Jack Grealish return.
