Real Madrid plan to get over the failure to sign Rodri from Manchester City by replacing him with his former teammate; Bernardo Silva.
Mundo Deportivo report that Real Madrid believe that Bernardo Silva is ‘perfectly capable’ of performing the role they had envisioned for Rodri if he’s paired with a more defensive minded player.
Mourinho plan in place
The newspaper reports that after sharing a dressing room at Manchester City, Bernardo Silva could now be destined to replace his former teammate at the Santiago Bernabeu. Or, well, the role Madrid envisioned for him.
In the almost opposite of what’s happened with Rodri this week, Bernardo Silva had been destined for Barcelona this summer. instead, he ended up signing to Real Madrid. Rodri, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with Madrid but is now more likely to end up at the Camp Nou.
Now Jose Mourinho is formulating a plan for Silva to help Real Marid get over that transfer disappointment. According to Mundo Deportivo, there is a ‘compelling factor’ working in the former Manchester City’s star’s favour. He’s always shown an ‘extraordinary’ consistency and lack of injuries.
Manchester City consistency
Last season he played 53 games in all competitions for Manchester City. He surpassed the 50-game mark in all but two seasons at the Etihad. In the two he didn’t, he still played 49 and 45 games in those anyway.
That is something Mourinho wants to use to his advantage. His idea, it seems, is to deploy the midfielder alongside a defensive minded player. That will help formr a new spine for Madrid’s midfield. His partner could be Aurelien Tchouaméni or Fede Valverde.
The idea is being worked on by Mourinho and his team as they look to get over the disappointment of missing out on Rodri. They have quickly changed plans following the Manchester City man’s decision to sign with Barcelona this week.
While there are still weeks left in the window for a signing, Mundo insist that Madrd hav other ideas. The insistence is that they ‘already have their own Rodrigo’ within the squad. And it’s the man who until recently shared a dressing room with Rodri at the Etihad.
