Chelsea’s game against Johor Darul Ta’zim on Sunday afternoon looked like more than just a friendly!

It ended 3-3 after a very fiery affair, which should have concluded with a penalty shoot-out. That did not happen, though, leaving one Chelsea staff member far from happy.

Chelsea’s head of first-team operations Kevin Campello could be heard saying, “it’s written in the contract” following the full-time whistle, which Daily Mail journalist Kieran Gill shared on X.

While the Blues would have liked to have beaten JDT, especially after how intense things got during the match, Xabi Alonso will be pleased he could give more of his players a run out following Saturday’s 3-0 win over AC Milan.

The Spaniard will also be delighted with Liam Delap. While it may have only been a friendly, Delap put in arguably his best performance in a Chelsea shirt against JDT.

The striker scored two goals and was a nuisance all game with his physical strength. It will now be interesting to see what Alonso does with him.

Joao Pedro is Chelsea’s first-choice striker, while the club have just brought in Danny Welbeck. It means only one of Delap, Nicolas Jackson or Emmanuel Emegha is likely to remain at Stamford Bridge this summer.
