Chelsea have confirmed that Trevoh Chalobah has joined Como.

football.london understands that the deal is worth around £26million, after the clubs reached a verbal agreement on Monday and announced the transfer this Sunday. Chalobah, 27, is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Serie A side several weeks ago.

He has spent almost two decades as a Chelsea player, having joined the club at the age of eight. As an academy graduate from Cobham, the club's spending limit this season will be increased by this 'pure profit' sale under the Premier League's new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) financial system.

Chalobah has signed a five-year contract with Como, who were delighted to announce the signing. They describe the defender as "comfortable in possession and physically imposing, he brings athleticism, versatility, leadership and experience at the highest level".

He is quoted as saying: "I'm thrilled and honoured to be here at Como: it's an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fabregas again is truly special.

"I can't wait to bring my experience to the team, feel the incredible atmosphere at the stadium, and connect with the fans. I will give my absolute all every single day to make history together".

Como's head coach Fabregas said: "Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club. He has competed and won at the highest level, but he is also hungry to begin a new chapter and continue improving.

"He gives us strength, speed and personality in defence, as well as the technical quality to build from the back. He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como."
