As quarterback Anthony Richardson has requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts back in February, there is confusion from the fanbase about whether that is still in place with training camp underway and preseason almost in full throttle. With the Colts star also recovering from an eye injury, there are a lot of questions surrounding the quarterback, as he gives an update on his trade request.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, he was asked about the trade request he made earlier in the year, with the 24-year-old admitting he hasn't talked to his agent, Deiric Jackson, or general manager Chris Ballard about it recently.
“So I'm not necessarily sure what's going on with that, but I'm just here right now and trying to make sure I can, you know, stand my foot on this team and be the best version of myself I can be for the team,” Richardson said, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.

More on Colts' Anthony Richardson and his trade request
Regarding Richardson's trade request from the Colts, Ballard would say on July 28 that it has not been rescinded, via Boyd, so it's still on the table. In fact, NFL insider Ian Rapoport would even predict on Sunday that he “would not be surprised” if Richardson played his final down for Indianapolis with how the situation is going, and whether he is traded or cut remains to be seen.
As Richardson looks for the opportunity of a fresh start and to start elsewhere, as Daniel Jones is the starter for the Colts, he is still recovering from a freak eye injury from last season where a resistance band snapped, and equipment struck his face. It resulted in Richardson fracturing his orbital bone.
While Richardson has been cleared, Rapoport has real questions about his sight, and while he can see, it's a “difference between seeing okay and can you feel and see the rushers on either side, can you see the receivers downfield.” At any rate, it remains to be seen how the situation between Indianapolis and Richardson is resolved.
