**Ronald Araujo is set to join Liverpool on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona.**
The Uruguayan international lost his place under Hansi Flick and has now been allowed to leave temporarily, with the Reds having the option to make the deal permanent.
Araujo jetted into Merseyside earlier today to complete his medical and thrash out terms.
He wasn’t at Anfield for the game, though, as Liverpool fell to a 3-2 defeat to Monaco.
And now, after the game, Virgil van Dijk has given a diplomatic response when asked about his arrival.
The Liverpool captain made his first appearance in pre-season as he played the first half.
Van Dijk conceded a penalty, but it looked like a soft foul. Apart from that incident, he fared quite well as he carried on from where he left off last season.
