Liverpool striker Alexander Isak says he is feeling fitter and sharper with every preseason game that passes, with the Swede hoping for a better second campaign at Anfield.
After signing from Newcastle last summer for a British-record fee of around $169 million (£125 million), Isak has struggled to live up to the billing purely because of a lack of match sharpness.
However, his quality has never been in doubt. If Liverpool can keep Isak fit in the next few months, then he alone could be worth a substantial number of Premier League points in the Reds' bid to improve on a disappointing period.
"I feel good," Isak told LFCTV after scoring against Monaco. "Every game hopefully should take me to a better fitness level, so that's what I'm working toward.
"I think today felt better than [the] last game and hopefully the next game feels better than today. That's what pre-season is for — building — and that's what we have to keep doing.
"I feel like the spirit is good in the group and we're all working hard to make things work. We're going to make sure that we're ready for the start."

Isak netted at Anfield for just the third time since his move to Merseyside. And he was delighted to be back in among the goals ahead of the real stuff starting again in a couple of weeks.
"It was really nice to be back at home, back in front of the fans and get some more minutes into the legs," Isak said.
On who scored the second goal, he added: "I think we agreed, me and Flo, that we both got a touch on the ball.
"But obviously I don't know who got the first one or the last one. It felt like I was on the ball. I don't really know!"

Liverpool.com says: Isak looking sharper can only be a good thing for the Reds. The 26-year-old is ready for the new campaign, it seems, and with Hugo Ekitike out at the moment, he will be required to play a lot more frequently.
The idea is to get more attacking depth in before the September 1 deadline to help him out. That will almost certainly happen, but Liverpool needs its forward line to be built around getting more from Isak.
Do that, and it will go a long way towards ensuring that Iraola achieves his minimum aims across the course of the season to come.
