Barcelona are reportedly close to securing the arrival of Roma prospect Siria Crotti as the club continue to bring international youth talent into La Masia.
[According to Maria Tikas of SPORT](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/futbol-femenino/barca-adelanta-siria-crotti-joya-133155306), the 2010-born attacker arrived in Barcelona on Thursday evening and trained with the club on Friday. Her proposed move has not yet been formally completed, but Crotti is expected to initially join Barcelona’s Juvenil setup.
The Italy Under-17 international had attracted interest from several leading European clubs. Barcelona appear to have moved first, placing themselves in a strong position to add one of Italy’s most highly regarded young attacking players to their academy.

Crotti joined Roma’s academy in October 2020 at the age of ten and has developed inside a club whose women’s section has grown considerably in recent seasons.
Her progress has already taken her into Italy’s youth pathway. After representing the country at Under-16 level, she has moved into the Under-17 setup despite still being at the beginning of her development.
Barcelona’s interest appears to be based on more than Crotti’s reputation within Italian youth football. Other major European clubs had reportedly been following her, making the timing of the approach important.
Waiting for Crotti to establish herself in Roma’s senior team would potentially have increased both the competition and the difficulty of signing her. Bringing her into La Masia now would allow Barcelona to oversee the next stages of her development within their own footballing structure.
Siria Crotti is right-footed and can operate as a midfielder or from wider attacking positions.
She is particularly comfortable carrying the ball, using her acceleration and close control to move beyond opponents. Her vision and ability to play the final pass also give her the potential to influence attacks without needing to remain in one fixed position.
Those qualities could make her a natural fit for a Barcelona academy built around possession, combination play and intelligent movement between different areas of the pitch.
Her versatility will still need to be refined as she progresses. Barcelona must determine whether her long-term future lies in midfield, on the wing or in a role that allows her to move between both areas. The immediate priority, however, would be adaptation rather than defining her final position.
Siria Crotti’s expected arrival follows Barcelona’s signing of Danish midfielder [Josephine Lamp from FC Nordsjælland](https://womenfootball.blog/josephine-lamp-barcelona-nordsjaelland-transfer/). Lamp joined Barça B on a contract until 2029, while Crotti is expected to enter the club at Juvenil level.
The two prospective pathways are different, but they point towards the same wider approach. Barcelona are looking beyond Spain for young players whose technical qualities suit their identity, then bringing them into the system before they become established senior internationals.
That strategy gives the club an opportunity to develop talent internally, but it also carries responsibility. Competition within Barcelona’s academy is intense, and signing highly regarded teenagers only works if there is a credible pathway through the age groups. Crotti would be arriving to continue her education, not to immediately solve a first-team problem.
Siria Crotti’s presence in Barcelona and involvement in training indicate that the process is advanced, but an official agreement has not yet been announced.
The remaining details—including the precise transfer arrangement and the length of any contract—are still unknown. Until Barcelona or Roma confirms the move, it should be treated as a prospective academy signing rather than a completed transfer.
If finalised, Barcelona will have secured another prominent European youth talent at an early stage. Crotti’s progress through La Masia will decide whether moving quickly also proves to be moving wisely.
