Trevoh Chalobah ends 19-year Chelsea era as Cesc Fàbregas’ Como complete €36m deal
Trevoh Chalobah has completed a permanent move from Chelsea to Como, bringing an end to an association with his boyhood club that lasted almost two decades.
Chelsea confirmed Chalobah’s departure on Sunday, with the 27-year-old joining Cesc Fàbregas’ side ahead of their first Champions League campaign.
Reports earlier this week placed the agreement at an initial €30million, with up to €6million available in add-ons and a sell-on clause included in the deal.
The Trevoh Chalobah Como transfer ends a Chelsea career which began when the defender joined the academy at Under-9 level.

Chalobah progressed through Cobham before loan spells with Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Lorient prepared him for senior football at Stamford Bridge.
His Chelsea debut came in the 2021 UEFA Super Cup victory over Villarreal. Days later he marked his first Premier League appearance with a memorable long-range goal in a 3-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Chalobah went on to collect the Club World Cup, Conference League and the expanded Club World Cup during his time with the senior side.
His Chelsea career was not always straightforward. The defender spent the first half of 2024/25 on loan at Crystal Palace before being recalled and re-establishing himself at Stamford Bridge.
He then made 47 appearances last season, more than any other Chelsea centre-back, and scored three times. His form also earned him a late place in England’s World Cup squad.
Como had pursued Chalobah throughout the summer. ReadChelsea reported last month that Chelsea had rejected an offer worth €25m plus €5m in add-ons, with the Blues holding out for a higher guaranteed fee.
The Italian club eventually moved closer to Chelsea’s valuation and secured the defender on a permanent deal.
Chalobah now joins former Chelsea midfielder Fàbregas at Como, where he will have the opportunity to play Champions League football.
For Chelsea, his departure also removes one of the longest-serving academy graduates from Xabi Alonso’s squad.
After arriving at Cobham as an eight-year-old and progressing all the way to the England team, Chalobah’s Chelsea career is finally over.
