Galatasaray make £34m offer to sign 25yo Arsenal star

Galatasaray are one of several clubs interested in Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli.

Martinelli faces an uncertain future at Arsenal after struggling for consistency last season.

The north London side are open to selling the Brazil international this summer as they look to revamp their attack ahead of the new season.

Paris Saint-Germain were linked with the 25-year-old before the start of the transfer window, but have not made a formal approach and appear to be prioritising other targets.

Galatasaray have now submitted a €40 million (£34m) offer for Martinelli, according to Turkish reporter Haluk Yurekli.

The Turkish giants are pushing to sign the Arsenal forward and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao. They have also made a formal approach for the Portuguese.

Considering Martinelli has entered the final 12 months of his contract and struggled in the league last season, £34m would be a fair price for the attacker.

The Gunners missed out on Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea, while Vinicius Junior opted to extend his contract at Real Madrid rather than join the club.

However, Arsenal may not sanction Martinelli’s departure until they sign another left winger, as they have failed to secure their priority targets for the position.

Despite fresh reports linking the Gunners to PSG’s Bradley Barcola, they are unlikely to meet his £130m valuation. Liverpool are reportedly leading the race for the France international.

Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz is another left-winger on their radar, but the Bianconeri are not expected to sell the 21-year-old after recently extending his contract.

If Arsenal fail to land another attacker, Martinelli could stay. The Premier League defending champions can trigger the option to extend his contract by another year, preventing him from leaving as a free agent next summer.
