Here We Go: Filip Jorgensen completes RC Strasbourg move after leaving Chelsea tour
Chelsea have given the green light for Filip Jørgensen to join Strasbourg on a season-long loan after the two clubs completed the documents required for the move.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper is set to spend the 2026/27 campaign in Ligue 1 on a straight loan, with no option to buy included in the agreement.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea approved the final move on Sunday morning, bringing several weeks of negotiations to a conclusion. FootballTransfers also reports that a full agreement has now been reached between Chelsea and Strasbourg.

Jørgensen’s departure has been expected since he left Chelsea’s pre-season tour last month.
ReadChelsea reported on 28 July that Jørgensen had returned to the United Kingdom while Strasbourg worked towards an agreement. At that stage, the final salary conditions were still being discussed and no completed deal had been announced.
The situation has now been resolved, with Strasbourg set to take Jørgensen for the entire season but without securing a future purchase option.
Jørgensen joined Chelsea from Villarreal for £20.7million in 2024 and has since made 36 appearances for the club. He featured only five times in the Premier League last season, with Robert Sánchez remaining ahead of him in the goalkeeping hierarchy.
Another campaign without regular league football was unlikely to suit either the player or Chelsea.
The loan should provide Jørgensen with a clearer route to first-team minutes while allowing Xabi Alonso to streamline a crowded goalkeeping department.
Chelsea’s wider transfer work has continued throughout the final weeks of pre-season. ReadChelsea’s latest transfer round-up detailed several other deals moving towards resolution as Alonso shapes his squad for the new campaign.
For Jørgensen, the immediate priority will now be regular football in France.
With no purchase clause attached, Chelsea will retain control of his long-term future and reassess the goalkeeper when he returns next summer.
