Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso was forced to step in and pull set-piece coach Austin MacPhee away from a brawl as tempers flared during their pre-season draw against Johor Darul Ta'zim.
The Blues brought in MacPhee from Aston Villa last month, and he acted furiously after watching Chelsea forward Liam Delap on the end of a dangerous-looking challenge.
Just past the hour mark, defender Antonio Glauder caught Delap with a strong tackle from behind, prompting a strong reaction from his Chelsea team-mates.
But it was MacPhee who was the most incensed by the challenge as he stormed across to confront a member of the Johor coaching staff, with fans claiming video footage appeared to show him yelling "shut the f*** up", before Alonso jumped in to drag him away.
Delap, who had already netted two penalties during the match, was able to play on, and Glauder subsequently turned the ball into his own net late on, allowing Chelsea to salvage a 3-3 draw.
The Blues will now return home from their Far East tour, with Alonso's side set to face Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge on Saturday before their Premier League curtain-raiser away at neighbours Fulham on August 24.
MacPhee has been recruited from Aston Villa as Alonso continues to assemble his own backroom team in west London.
MacPhee, instantly recognisable with his distinctive long blonde hair, had become a familiar presence alongside Unai Emery, playing a pivotal role behind the scenes during the Midlands club's recent rise to prominence.
Chelsea are embarking on yet another season under new managerial guidance. The club's owners have yet to retain a manager beyond 18 months, though none of their previous appointments have boasted the credentials of Alonso.
The Spaniard arrives at Stamford Bridge having previously managed Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. His tenure in Spain was brief but far from a failure, while his achievements in Germany have earned him considerable respect.
At Leverkusen, he clinched the Bundesliga title, ending Bayern Munich's stranglehold on the division, and also lifted the German Cup.
Chelsea are desperate to recover from a wretched campaign that saw them languish in mid-table and cycle through three managers, with Enzo Maresca, Liam Rosenior and Calum McFarlane all taking charge at various points throughout the season.
