Chelsea central defender Trevor Chalobah has been sold to Como in Serie A, with the 27-year-old leaving Stamford Bridge having arrived at the club in his teens.

He departs Xabi Alonso’s squad for $AUD 59 million (£30.8m), linking with Cesc Fabregas’ side on a five-year deal after over 150 appearances for the Premier League outfit.

His move comes after he was part of England’s third-placed finish at the recent World Cup.

After 18 years, it’s time to say goodbye to Chelsea. I arrived as a nine-year-old with a dream, and I leave as a man who’s lived that dream in ways I never imagined. Chalobah said: “I’m thrilled and honoured to be here at Como: it’s an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fabregas again is truly special.

“I can’t wait to bring my experience to the team, feel the incredible atmosphere at the stadium, and connect with the fans. I will give my absolute all every single day to make history together”.

Como head coach Fabregas said: “Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club.

“He has competed and won at the highest level, but he is also hungry to begin a new chapter and continue improving.

“He gives us strength, speed and personality in defence, as well as the technical quality to build from the back.

“He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como.”

Meanwhile, Sky Sports reports that goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen will join the out tray at Cobham, heading on loan to Strasbourg, the club’s sister outfit in France.

Aston Villa can confirm that Lucas Digne has completed a permanent transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

The defender joined Villa in January 2022 from Everton and would go on to make 182 appearances in claret and blue, scoring four goals and registering 24 assists.

Elsewhere, Lucas Digne will join Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent deal after four years at Aston Villa.

The $ AUD 16 million (£8.5m) deal sees the full-back, who was part of the UEFA Europa League winning squad and joined the club from Everton, return to France.

In Manchester, City boss Enzo Maresca says he expects to welcome World Cup winner Rodri back from injury ahead of the season despite intense speculation linking him with both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“Yes, at the moment he will be in Manchester,” Maresca said.

“There is no update – On August 14 he will be back.”

It is being reported that a LiLiga club will need to dish out $AUD 115m (£60m) for the 30-year-old, who is entering the last year of his contract.

The midfielder has not yet returned to duty following the World Cup, but Sky Sports report that the Premier League giant has already rejected an offer from Barcelona it has deemed too low.
