Arsenal face a busy few weeks in the transfer window as the new season approaches. Mikel Arteta’s side will hope to pick up where they left off next term after clinching the Premier League and narrowly missing out on the Champions League trophy.

The Gunners have already added to their title-winning side, with former Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis bolstering Arsenal’s wide options. The club also recently completed a £75million move for Bruno Guimaraes as Arteta looked to strengthen in midfield.

In terms of outgoings, Leandro Trossard has joined Besiktas and Christian Norgaard has left for Everton. However, the arrival of Guimaraes has led to speculation over Martin Zubimendi’s future at the Emirates Stadium.

The Spain international signed from Real Sociedad last summer but now faces competition from Guimaraes and countryman Mikel Merino for a regular spot next to Declan Rice. Meanwhile, Gabriel Martinelli has been linked with a possible move to Galatasaray. Here, Mirror Football looks at the biggest transfer stories surrounding the Gunners.

Arsenal face Real Madrid transfer twist

Arsenal face another possible transfer battle with Real Madrid following reports regarding Martin Zubimendi’s future. The Gunners recently targeted Los Blancos star Vinicius Junior before the winger signed a new contract and the sides could soon cross paths again over another player.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo reports that Madrid may look to take advantage of Zubimendi’s "uncertain" future at Arsenal following the signing of Guimaraes. The La Liga side look set to miss out on a move for Manchester City’s Rodri and could turn their attention to the Gunners star.

Chelsea are also said to be interested in the 27-year-old, who started 34 league games for Arteta's side last term. Mundo Deportivo claims that Arsenal would demand a minimum of £77m for the midfielder.

Arsenal reportedly beat Madrid to Zubimendi’s signature when completing a £55m move last year. The former Real Sociedad star has since enjoyed a memorable 12 months, winning the Premier League and the World Cup.

Arsenal stance on forward’s future emerges

Arsenal have made their stance on Gabriel Martinelli clear following an approach from Galatasaray for the forward. The 25-year-old scored 11 goals in all competitions last term but found the net just once in the Premier League.

football.london reports that Martinelli currently remains part of Arteta’s plans. However, the club’s pursuit of Vinicius Junior has alerted other sides to his possible availability.

They're unlikely to allow him to join the Turkish side while they continue to hunt for a potential signing. But should they find such a player, then the door will open to a possible exit.

The Brazilian already faces fresh competition on the left flank from new signing Tzolis. The £34m winger has impressed during his early appearances for the club in pre-season.
