Arsenal are back in the mix for Juventus’ Kenan Yıldız as part of their plan to improve their attack this summer.
The Premier League winners were keen on signing Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior. This option is no longer on the table after he signed an extension.
Vinícius’ renewal has seen Arsenal look at alternatives in the market. Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that Yıldız is on top of the Gunners’ wish list. The Serie A side, for their part, would need over €100m to sit at the negotiating table.
Arsenal already made attempt
Tutto Juve picks up on that and covers the latest on the north London club’s efforts to sign him.
The Turkey international has been on Arsenal’s agenda for a while and the latter made an enquiry in June. The Turin club had rejected their approach and made it clear the 21-year-old wasn’t on the market.
Despite this, Mikel Arteta’s side are insisting and could use the Premier League charm to tempt Kenan Yıldız.
Fast forward to August and Mikel Arteta’s side have made another push to sign the Turkey international.
Juventus standing firm
The Old Lady’s response has been the same again as their plan is to build a team around the attacker. He is a key part of Luciano Spalletti’s plans for the new season.
Tutto Juve states: ‘Luciano Spalletti is working to increase Juventus’ quality, speed, and unpredictability, and Yıldız possesses precisely these characteristics. The Turk can start wide, cut inside, play between the lines, and, above all, create something when playmaking isn’t enough.’
Therefore, it makes no sense for the Italian club to sell him from a technical point of view.
In February, Kenan Yıldız signed a new contract until 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €75m. Juventus then said he’s a vital part of their reconstruction and selling him this summer would mean giving up on their plan.
Recent links said the Serie A side could start negotiation for over €100m. Tutto Juve says they have no plans of selling him even if there’s a big offer.
The outlet ends their report by stating: ‘Juventus want to return to greatness, and to do so, they must retain their best talents. Arsenal’s rejection, therefore, is much more than a simple transfer decision.’
That should rule out a move, unless there’s a new twist. Last season, Yıldız managed 11 goals and 10 assists from 47 matches.
