Darwin Nunez has penned a touching welcome message for Ronald Araujo after the defender agreed to join Liverpool on loan, with the former Reds striker lavishing praise on the supporters.
Araujo underwent his medical on Sunday ahead of his loan move to Liverpool, which will make him the fourth Uruguayan to represent the club.
Nunez was the last, and despite leaving last summer, Liverpool remains close to his heart as his heartfelt message to Araujo on social media showed.
“I wish you the best in this great club, friend @RonaldAraujo_4,” Nunez’s message on X read.

Nunez and Araujo are long-standing friends, from first facing each other as kids in Uruguay to representing the national team as senior players and forging a friendship.
It is safe to assume the two have talked in the days since Araujo was first told of Liverpool’s interest, with Nunez passing on what it means to represent the club.

Despite the striker’s time at Anfield ending after just three seasons, his comments reflect a deep connection with Liverpool and the supporters to whom he quickly endeared himself.
It will fill Araujo with confidence that the step he is taking is the right one as he looks to offer much-needed depth in Andoni Iraola‘s defence.
The centre-back can also feature at right-back, making him the hybrid option that was previously mooted by journalists as Liverpool’s likely last addition to the backline this summer.
The 27-year-old will be expected to train with his new teammates at the start of the week ahead of the final pre-season friendlies against Como on Sunday.
Nunez himself, meanwhile, is anticipated to leave Al-Hilal this summer, with a reunion with Mo Salah at Trabzonspor mooted.
